Thank you, very interesting. I was born in Russia in 1967 but my parents fled the country and came here in Britain. Honestly, I didnt really care much about my russian history until my mother died last month, now I've been trying to find out as much as I can. Seemed like cuisine was as good a place as any to start from! You dont generally hear much about russian cooking do you? Anyway, I found a lot of russian recipes here that other readers might be interested in too.

Carmon, thank you for your suggestions. :-)

It's not so much weariness and stress, though I won't deny those are factors. If I were to turn to the government or the public school, it would be an acknowledgment of my need for help in teaching something I've failed at so far. Remember, I'm talking about three children who are 16, 13 and 11, who need a good remedial program in reading and spelling. Enlisting the help of an outsider for this is no different from my sending my girls to a piano teacher instead of teaching them myself, since I never got past Gr. 4 piano. And in this case, I would still be teaching them.

As to getting financial help, you would be appalled, I think, if you knew how little we have to spend on homeschooling. We have bought no new curriculum since we ordered Saxon Algebra 2 for our son five years ago. We spend *maybe* $200 total per year for paper, notebooks, pencils and other supplies. That's it. That's all we *have* to spend.

Molly, I have been using the Robinson Curriculum for almost five years, and also adapt it to the needs of my own family. I love the philosophy, but I don't know anyone who is using it "to a T." I use other phonics and reading programs to teach them to read. I use other books for reading as well, especially when the children are new readers, because there are not enough books on the CD's to give a child all the practice he needs to become good at reading.

The greastest theme on my pages, in all that I do must focus on the glory of God. Solomon built a beautiful temple with millions and millions worth of gold. The Lord filled the temple. God was saying to the people, "See My glory. Focus on it. Recognize who I am, not the temple.
(That is what I thought about after reading this sonnet)
Thank you Carmen

Charlotte, if you get a chance, take your children to see the exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls (and other precious biblical manuscripts) at the Bayside Church (I know, I know, but the exhibit is awesome)...and they can see beautiful hand-copied books on vellum and see in person what it might mean to be enamored with the book and its beauty rather than the Author.

I like reading poetry but I must admit I had no idea how many lines a sonnet had. I am going to use this in our schooling today (even though it is a day late) and use the questions you asked below. I also noticed you did the same in your last blog post and I will see how I can incorporate that soon. Thanks, Carmon! I am always happy to see a blog entry from you.
