Pray for Terri Schiavo
I received this email today. Please visit the sites listed and do as they ask. This is very serious…if we are at the point where a living, responsive woman is deemed unworthy to live and starved to death, and we say and do nothing, we are a nation which deserves serious judgment from God. God bless America? We need to fall on our faces before the holy God and plead for His mercy, repenting of our selfishness and apathy.
Dear Pro-Life Friend,
I’m taking the unusual step of emailing the entire pro-life blogs mailing list because of a critical situation that has developed in the case of Terri Schiavo.
Today, the courts rejected the pleas of Terri’s parents to stop her husband, Michael, from withholding food and water from her. He has promised to begin starving her tomorrow at 1 pm.
Most of you are aware that Terri is not a “vegetable” or “brain-dead” as Michael and his lawyers claim, but responds to others and is aware of her surroundings. She laughs, smiles and, according to her nurses, has a small vocabulary.
Terri is not on life support and is healthy. She needs help eating and is fed through a tube (helping someone eat and drink who is impaired has never been considered artificial life support).
While Michael asserts he is carrying out Terri’s wishes, he waited until after he received a large sum of money from a lawsuit against her doctors before making this claim . During the lawsuit, he alleged negligence and motivated a financial award with the potential cost of Terri’s rehabilitation.
However, Terri has been denied rehabilitation that experts testify could allow her to eat and talk. The courts in Florida have consistently blocked appeals to give Terri proper tests and therapy that would improve her life.
Terri may not have the capabilities she once had, but she is no less valuable and no less a person.

Thank you, Carmon, for the update. I have been praying for Terri for a long time, and wasn’t aware of the latest battle. I emailed Gov. Bush. I hope he will help.

Thank you, Carmon, for the update. I was aware, but I really appreciate the information and pray God uses Gov. Bush to stop the wickedness perpetrated by her so-called husband.

Does anyone have an update? I heard last night it was supposed to be removed tommorow but I was just reading gopinsight.com and a letter dated from yesterday on there stated he could do it as early as 1 pm today. So has he???
I wrote to Jeb Bush and also forwarded the email an from OR to a few people. This is so terrible and I have heard even some Reformed prolife Christians who think Mr. Schiavo is perfectly in the right. May God have mercy on us. We deserve to be wiped off the face of the planet no less than Sodom and Gomorah!!!

The videos at terrisfight.org make me cry. She is so alive. Look how big and brightly she opened her eyes when asked to do so. See how her face shines when her mother speaks so lovingly to her. This is a travesty.

I have shed more tears over this today!
Travesty- there is almost no word in our language for what this is. Court sanctioned murder.
I am so proud of our blogging community for coming together to stand united about this very important woman. God loves her!

I would like to add to my thoughts in Comment #8 that I believe Miss Schiavo’s interaction with people is a secondary issue. Even if she did not display these manifestations of consciousness and understanding, it still would not be man’s place to take her life.

Ruthanne, I think you are so right!!! These people are lying about her state but really if she was in a vegetative state would that make it okay??? Certainly not!!! I am glad that people are speaking out about the horrific way in which Terri is going to die if this is allowed to continue but again – that isn’t the main reason why it is wrong. I think there is a problem in the pro-life community and that is that we are attempting to stop such horrible atrocities by appealing to wicked sinful man’s hearts rather than preaching the gospel and telling them to repent. Not that there isn’t a place for the truth of such horrible things – but PBA isn’t a sin because the baby is more “human” than a pre-implanted baby or that it feels more pain. I think this is the reason most Christians don’t care that they are aborting pre-implanted babies with birth control or that they are free to keep babies frozen on ice for numerous years with no intentions of ever allowing these children to grow – such things don’t speak to their emotions. A woman starving to death and a recognizable baby being torn apart do. Scripturally speaking what’s the difference??? Wicked sinful man just comes up with a “better” way to do it’s sinning.
